He gained a great deal of weather information over his three years in the central plains, including in-depth reporting on extreme weather occurrences. Bybee took a job in 2011 as a weekend meteorologist at KARK-TV in Little Rock, Arkansas, and spent more than a year honing his forecasting abilities there. He says of the chance presented by 40/29, “It was a no-brainer.” In addition to his love of storm-chasing and climbing, Bybee is a loyal dog owner.
