Griego began her journalism career at the young age of eleven. She was born and reared in North Denver, close to Sloan’s Lake. She also co-anchored “Two Bits,” a kids’ news program on KWGN-TV, for almost three years. Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Nebraska all aired the program. There weren’t many Latinas on TV at the time, she claims. “It seemed as though I was offering a service because children would approach me and engage in conversation about current affairs.” She realized right away that journalism was her vocation.

Before starting her employment at CBS4 in 2005, Griego attended and graduated from Colorado State University as well as Metropolitan State University of Denver. That’s when she learned everything there is to know about journalism. She also had positions as a reporter, web editor, and eventually an anchor. “Being knee-high in the snow” and breaking news are two of her favorite live images.
