Mark Ferguson is a New Zealand-based Australian television presenter and actor who presents Seven News in Sydney on weeknights. In 1989, he joined the channel as a reporter in the Brisbane newsroom. Also, he wears the hat of a foreign correspondent, an exceptional journalist, and a newsreader with more than three years of experience.

At the age of 18, in 1984, he began his work in his hometown as a cadet journalist at NEN-9 in Tamworth. He did features for Hinch and Sportsworld at 11 am This came two years after relocating to the Seven’s Cairns bureau. Ferguson joined Nine News in Sydney in 1992. Then, in 1994, he transferred to the London-based bureau. It was during this time that he covered major stories, including the Palestinian intifada, ongoing troubles in Northern Ireland, the 50th anniversary of D-Day, the death of Princess Diana, the funeral of assassinated Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and the horrific Rwanda massacres. However, in 1997, he returned to Sydney to work as an anchor and reporter for the Nine Network. In 2001, he became a presenter, initially on the National Nine Early News at 6 a.m. and then on the National Nine Morning News at 11 am.

Working as a part-time news anchor, he went to Good Medicine and also worked there in 2000 and 2001. He resumed his full-time job in the newsroom. Mark anchored in the Nine Morning Newscast, later taking up the Nine Early News. He was honored together with the 7News Sydney team with a Walkley Award for 7News coverage of the Sydney Stabbing. Mark was demoted in January 2009 to his former weekend anchoring; this came as a result of dwindling ratings at the Nine Network. Peter Overton was the one who replaced Mark. Later, in July of the same year, he was replaced again by Georgie Gardner. In September 2009, he resigned after working for a period of 17 years with Nine News. However, he presented the weekend bulletin on Seven News, and come January 2014, Ferguson was appointed weeknight anchor.
