In fifth grade, he began delivering newspapers as part of his new career. In addition to working as a newscaster and DJ at local radio stations throughout his high school years, Loesch started his career in television while still a college student at WWTV in Cadillac-Traverse City, Michigan.

He began his career at WKBN in Youngstown, Ohio, where he worked as a morning and weekend anchor. Later, he relocated to Detroit to work as a reporter and stand-in anchor at WXYZ. In the categories of breaking news, features, and outstanding reporting, he has earned Golden Quill honors from the Associated Press, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and multiple Emmy nominations.

The flood in Western Pennsylvania in 2004 that Loesch and his photographer saw resulted in the dramatic rescue of a deaf and physically disabled woman who was stuck in a car is the story that sticks with him the most. The rescuer was a police sergeant who was unable to swim.

He traveled to Rome, Italy, to cover the death of Pope John Paul II. He also covered the Virginia Tech shooting massacre, the Sago Mine catastrophe, and Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Washington, D.C. Among the first journalists on the scene of the 2009 LA Fitness Shooting Spree was Loesch.

Additionally, he has followed Pittsburgh sports fans throughout the nation to Steelers Super Bowl games in Detroit, Tampa, and Dallas as well as the 2008 and 2009 Penguins Stanley Cup Finals.
