Kristina Sunshine Jung Early life and Family
On August 1, 1978, Kristina Sunshine Jung was born in the United States. Her parents are the notorious drug trafficker George Jung, a former Medellin Cartel member, and his drug-addicted ex-wife Mirtha Jung. She experienced a challenging upbringing as a result of her parents’ endeavors. Even though she was pregnant, Mirtha continued to use drugs up until Kristina was three years old, when she was detained for drug possession. She had already divorced George at this point, who had also received a lengthy prison term for his criminal crimes.
As a result, Kristina’s maternal grandparents Ermine and Frederick Jung reared her. They provided her with stability and protection for a long period, away from her parents. Every year, they would give her a fresh package of clothes and toys, doing their best to give her the chance to live a typical upbringing.
When Kristina’s grandfather passed away, her aunt Marie Jung was given custody of her, and she stayed with her until she turned 18 years old. She did have a nice relationship with her mother throughout her youth, who gave up drugs and started living a sober lifestyle for the benefit of her daughter.
As of June 2020, neither Kristina’s precise birthplace nor the schools she attended have been made public.

In the 1970s and the first part of the 1980s, George Jung was a key player in operations to smuggle cocaine illegally. After beginning to collaborate with Carlos Lehder, his former cellmate, he quickly rose to prominence within the cartel.
The two of them rose to prominence as the heads of one of the first and largest drug smuggling rings between Colombia and the US; at the start of the 1980s, they were trafficking almost 80% of the cocaine produced worldwide. George was repeatedly jailed for his activities; finally, in 1994, he was taken into custody in Topeka, Kansas, and given a 60-year prison sentence. After spending 20 years in prison, Jung was freed in 2014, but since then, there has been at least one minor arrest.
In contrast to her bond with her mother Mirtha, Kristina allegedly never visited her father in prison despite his repeated requests and appeals, and their relationship was distant.
However, according to sources, their connection improved as a result of the movie, and Kristina paid her first visit in 2002, a year after the movie’s premiere. She remained a frequent visitor up to his release in 2014 and is credited as being one of the first to call him on the phone.
