Deborah began her career at Wagga Wagga 2 WG as a radio station co-host. Later she joined Mix 106.5 in Sydney which She left again for Network 10. On 10 News First, she was selected as the US correspondent in 2001 where she reported other world major happenings such as; the September 11 attacks. In January 2006, she became a flagship Sydney bulletin co-host taking over Jessica Rowe’s position. She also presented on the network’s national late-night News bulletin as a regular substitute. Knight left Network Tens Ten News at Five in Sydney in October 2011. Deborah later served on Today as a weekend and a weekday Monday presenter. She joined Nine Network in December 2011, where she took over Alicia Gorey’s position.
Deborah was later selected to serve as a co-host on Today in February 2015, replacing Leila McKinnon. Knight was selected at Nine News Sydney as a Friday and Saturday news presenter in December 2017 where she replaced Georgia Gardener. Later, it was announced that Allison Langdon was going to take over Debora’s position on the weekend today. In January 2019, Nine Network declared that she would be replaced by Karl Stefanovic as the breakfast program’s co-host today. In November 2019, she was appointed to be a co-host on the weekend Today and to report for 60 minutes from January 2020.
