He became well-known for playing the lead in a number of highly regarded motion pictures, including JFK Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Untouchables, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, and The Bodyguard.

He and Dennis Burtt were teammates at Villa Park, where he played baseball. California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) awarded him a bachelor’s degree in 1978.
