Pitt’s acting career began at the age of 23, in 1987.  Pitt took acting lessons from coach Roy London. He had various roles in the hit Fox television series 21 Jump Street. Subsequently, he appeared in episodes for television shows in the late 1980s, where he played his first major role in the slasher film Cutting Class in 1989. His leading roles in big-budget productions came with A River Runs Through It in 1992 and Interview with the Vampire in 1994. He earned his first Golden Globe nomination when he was cast opposite Anthony Hopkins in the 1994 drama Legends of the Fall. Later, he secured a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor and an Academy Award nomination; this was in 1995 after he performed in the crime thriller Seven and the science fiction film 12 Monkeys.
